Our Ingredients vs the Competition

Broma Brownie Company. We are craft bakers of all natural, preservative free artisan brownies. At bbc we use nothing but the finest ingredients locally sourced from New England like Vermont grown and milled organic flour, Massachusetts free range organic farm fresh eggs, and organic Vermont dairy.  We use American made organic, fair-trade, kosher dark chocolate. Our chocolate is so special and unique it has a special program dedicated to the partnership directly between our supplier and the cacao growers empowering the farmers through innovation and technology yielding a rich nutty fruity cacao.  In short Broma brownies are the best quality best tasting brownies available. At BBC our ingredients are clear and concise. Below we did a comparison of BBC ingredients and the “competition”. We are supports the “farm to table” movement and as you can see our ingredients are far superior compared to our competition and we proudly list the state of origin on all our ingredients. When reviewing this keep in mind that Ingredients & Sub-Ingredients by law have to be listed by volume, highest first! As you'll see some do not even bother to list sub-Ingredients like competitor #1 whats in the Belgian unsweetened chocolate? I know what it is! Its “Dutched Processed Cocoa” (cocoa powder treated with potassium hydrochloride), milk and copious amounts of sugar. As you will see Broma Brownie Co Brownies contain more chocolate and less sugar than the competition yielding a better higher quality brownie.

Brownies and Beer Pairing

At Broma Brownie Co. we recently conducted a beer and brownie tasting at Craft Beer Cellars and was deeply inspired by their vast selection local, national and international craft brews.  We were so inspire that we decide to a tasting of our own.

First I paired our Jefferson's Small Batch Bourbon & Bing Cherry brownie with Bourbon Country Brand Stout by Goose Island Beer Co. First off  WOW! These two pair particularly well.  The brew pours a deep rich dark color with a mocha head. In the nose the brew has lots of vanilla, dark chocolate and bourbon notes. The dark chocolate, cherries and bourbon all play off each other and rounds out the palate. A perfect combination!

Our second pairing was with Jacks Abby Hoponius Union from Framingham Ma. This IPA brewed with West Coast Hops is another amazing brew. The brew pours a nice golden copper color with citrus notes. Not bitter but hoppy! We paired or Crunchy Cacao Nib with this brew. We found Cacao Nibs  Cacao have a light floral citrus with cacao tartness thats off set by the dark chocolate coating. Truly complex

Lastly we paired Duchesse De Bourgogne by Brouweij Verhaeghe. Flanders Red ales pair incredibly well with chocolate so we went old school and pair it with our original brownie. Duchesse does not disappoint with is deep amber red color with hints of cherries. Duchesse in contrast with dark chocolate brownie the chocolate exemplifies the natural characteristics or both highlighting hints of cherries raisins and currants.

As you can see there are plenty of options for beer and chocolate to live harmoniously on the palate. But the most important is to have fun with it. Don’t be afraid to try different things you just might surprise yourself.

Happy Trails
